if life gives you bad apples...

cover them with caramel!
Okay I have come to the realization after a few conversations that you might benefit from me letting you know what is going on with Dev for your daughters. I know, I had mine at 18 and most wait until they are actual adults before spawning so minus one or two friends, I am your guide. Scary, yes. Take everything I do with a grain of salt for this is uncharted territory for me. I was her age once but I was so different from her, wild side, that it really is uncharted territory.

Yesterday during school we kept in communicato via texting. Everything was fine. Her friends rallied around her and kept her spirits high. She asked to go to her boyfriends Tennis match after school. I said yes, for her being busy is the best thing for her (advice number one). Everything was great, he lost his match and I went to pick her up where the three of us sat and chatted for a few minutes. Nice kid, I thought.
We come home, cook dinner and settle in for Thursday night TV! Woohoo. The Office rocked. Survivor..I like the gravedigger..not happy that they've voted off two girls now. The vaginas need to get together and get rid of the twigs and berries. It ends and we make some caramel apples. My jaw never needs to exercise ever again, what a workout eating those things. I don't know why I thought they would be difficult. Microwave and cover, that's it. No candy thermometer. No waiting to make sure the caramel is melted how it needs to be. Easy. I like it but felt this is notihng like being in grandmas kitchen where it's all about the chemistry.
After, Trevor calls, he breaks it off with Dev for his reason is that he didn't want to come between Dev and her friend. DAMN HIM! She's crying, she's pissed, she's like but he doesn't know our history and how this was going to happen anyhow. She goes to her room, she's crying, I go in and her friend has written her a nasty email that says, why you talkin shit about me to other people, be a woman and say it to my face. Dev has her reply typed out, it says that she didn't and if she wanted to she would say it to her face. I try to convey to Dev to not entertain her. She's doing this for more drama. She is not worthy a response and if you must respond, tell her just that. So she did. (that could be advice number two, but you already know that one.) And this weekend, the plan is tonight the new Ben Stiller movie, laughter! Tomorrow swim meet and bowling tourney in Austin. And whatever she wants to do with her friends, she will be allowed to do. We will make it so for her. And lastly, I just keep reminding her that she is more than how she has been treated lately. That because she is worth more than that, she is moving on, and she will be okay. That people can only hurt you if you let them.
I will tell you what Shane's advice to Dev was yesterday, and it is good, and this is word for word. "Dev, if she says one more nasty thing to you, beat her scrawny ass. I do not care if you get suspended. I want you to hit her so hard in the nose and take care of business."

That's it folks! Answer solved! Just beat a little ass and all is right with the world.
And a few moments later we are in the bathroom discussing the greatest advice I've ever heard and I ask, "umm have you taught Dev how to fight? Cos I haven't. I was all talk and had Tricia as a back-up, who no one wanted to mess with. What if this girl actually knows how to fight or has a back up?" He sat silent while flossing, still not sure the answer to that one.

Next advice to you & for me, in the future, talk to the husband before hand to make sure your on the same page of appropriate, non susupension producing behavior.

Don't our apples look delish. They were!
