Have I created a...
scrapbooker? Does that mean I have someone local to do this stuff with? Will she take Tricia's place at CKU's? Will she be heading to the conventions with me to do some shopping? Will she be a hoarder? Will she be an addict? Will she be up all night watching QVC for TSV? Will she kick her husband out of his office and turn the room into her own scrapbooking playground? Will she soon need organizational advice from all the goodies she will collect? Will she?
My friend Tracy has started scrappin' ya'll! I have been asked what do I need to get started? I can say the usual adhesive, trimmer, cardstock....but what else? Any advice for her from some fellow advanced scrappers...Mel, Chris, Autumn....Mandy, you just started what helped you?
Last night she emailed me some photos of her pages. I am only uploading two of them. I could tell she had the itch all week and then she did some! Love it! I should be inspired. So give some advice!

Just sent you an email with some tips I had put together for another friend of mine.
Wow - she just started and those are her first pages?? Kudos! She did really well. Looking back at my first pages are a travesty.
I would say that if she's just starting then I would go to a store and find a line of paper & cardstock that she really likes. I finds that helps me by using CS & PP I like. Another thing for newbies is to try not to be overwhelmed with all the products out there... even years later, you'll still be overwhelmed. :)
Look for embellishments that you have a strong feeling you'll use. I can't tell you how many things I've purchased because "they look pretty" but I never end up using them.
But they are pretty...
And yah that you'll have a scrapping buddy nearby.
Well...I am still learning all of the things you need. The funny thing, you always need more! Besides all the things that the other ladies have said and what has helped me....buying folders, plastic containers for separating and organizing my things. This way I am not digging as much to find my things. My favorite containers are the plastic ones that have three pull out drawers. They fit nicely in a closet and you can put things on top of them.
Also, some sticky notes...This helps when you are going through the pictures you want to use and you come up with an idea, you write it on the sticky and place it on the back of a picture or a stack. It helps me remember, anyway.
The website IVillage has free courses you can sign-up for to learn basics of scrapbooking. They give you two lessons a week and you can chat with others that are signed-up. It is taught by an instructor. Her name is Tracy something?
Oh and Mel, I understanad about the travesty of a first scrapbook!! It's something you want to lock away! Good thing is you can tell you've improved over time! That's a great feeling!
Happy Weeekend!
